Project Description
The project consisted of the Design-Build Entity and construction of a new 1,216 bed San Diego County Women’s Detention Facility (SDCWDF) including demolition of the Las Colinas Detention Facility (LCDF) which occupied a portion of the site. This project was built in 2 phases due to LCDF being active during construction, which then involved prisoner transfer upon completion of each phase.
The off-site improvements included an extension of Riverview Parkway, from Civic Center Drive to Magnolia Avenue. The parkway extension was designed to meet the city’s parkway standards with 2 lanes in each direction. Sierra Pacific West, Inc.’s portion included in this project is a two-lane cul-de-sac from Magnolia Avenue west to the entry to the new facility which will serve as the primary (public) access to the facility. This road was built in the dedicated right-of-way for Riverview Parkway and accommodates the future construction of the balance of the roadway.
